Rodrigo Garcia
“I harness the power of technology and finance to support climate change adaptation and mitigation.”
Rodrigo holds a MPA in International Development (MPA ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School. During his time as a Cheng Fellow, Rodrigo co-founded Suyana, a triple bottom social enterprise creating climate insurance products for agriculture and renewable energies in developing countries. Suyana combines data extracted from different sources (including satellite information, surveys, news records, among others), along with models of data science and science of the climate, to create affordable climate risk insurance. Rodrigo is an economist with substantial experience in international development. He was a consultant for the World Bank and the Interamerican Development Bank. In his native Bolivia, he worked for a government think tank and taught economics at Universidad Privada Boliviana.
