Three hundred thousand women die in pregnancy, delivery, or after birth in the world every year. Luca’s work aims to save mothers and newborns by building low-cost maternity clinics that provide access to high-quality, safe and affordable birth services.
Luca was a Cheng Fellow and Mid-Career Master in Public Administration student at Harvard, after a decade as a global health physician in Asia and Africa with the United Nations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Doctors Without Borders. He is currently the Director of Health and Life Sciences in the executive office of Mr Bill Gates, where he acts as a senior adviser on health, science and international development.
