Julie Yen

I strive to help make work and organizations sustainable for people and the planet.

Julie Yen is an assistant professor of Management and Organizations at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. Her research places workers at the center of scholarship on social performance in business, investigating how people and organizations navigate tensions, tradeoffs, and power dynamics as they pursue social objectives. Julie draws primarily on qualitative field research methods and has studied organizational settings ranging from start-ups to architecture to child care. Julie received her PhD in Organizational Behavior from Harvard Business School in 2024. She also holds an A.M. in Sociology and a B.A. in History from Harvard University. Julie previously worked in the nonprofit sector at José Mateo Ballet Theatre and in the financial services sector at Capital One.
