Camille McGirt graduated from Harvard Business School in 2021 with a Master’s in Business Administration. During the fall of 2010, Camille participated in the White House Internship Program, where she served in the Office of Presidential Personnel for a semester. After completing the internship in the Obama White House, she interned in Congressman Emanuel Cleaver’s (D-MO) office through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Program. After leaving Washington, D.C., Camille continued her public service efforts combining them with her passion for public health. During the summer of 2011, she established the 501(c)3 non-profit, Healthy Girls Save the World, Inc. The mission of HGSW is to provide transformational experiences and education on proper nutrition, the benefits of physical activity, and overall healthy lifestyles to educate and enable girls to make healthy choices in their lives. HGSW organizes culturally responsive educational tools, after-school programs, and summer camps that encourage the development of healthy and balanced lifestyles for Black girls. HGSW has grown into a nationally recognized non-profit receiving features and awards from organizations such as the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), the Pearson Foundation, the Maya Angelou Center for Women’s Health and Wellness, the Kenan Charitable Trust, and Liberty Mutual. Camille is passionate about health equity and health care disparity reduction for Black women.
As a Cheng Fellow, she focused on HGSW’s strategy for growth and scale through existing programs and newly developed digital mediums.
