Akonkwa Mubagwa
In a human-first world, I build connected, sustainable and decentralized energy for healthcare.

Akonkwa Mubagwa is a social entrepreneur dedicated to transforming healthcare in emerging markets through renewable energy innovation. He holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Louvain, a Master’s in Management from HEC Paris, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. He will be graduating from the Mid-Career Master in Public Administration (MC/MPA) program at Harvard Kennedy School in 2026.
Before founding Winko Solar, Akonkwa ran his own consulting firm in forensic technology in Europe, worked as a consultant at PwC, and spent a short period at Bain & Company. He began his career in technology at SWIFT and IBM, gaining deep expertise at the intersection of technology, systems, and operations.
At Winko Solar, Akonkwa is bringing connected renewable energy infrastructure to cold chain systems, oxygen delivery, and reliable power for healthcare facilities. By making energy production more efficient and decentralized, his work enables more resources to be directed toward treatment and preventive care.
Akonkwa’s goal is to build an international framework for rapid deployment of decentralized renewable energy for healthcare, integrated with data systems to improve resilience, delivery, and equity. He believes change can happen as fast as we are willing to put in the effort for it to occur.
