Ashot Gabrielyan is an educator, advocate, and social innovator from Artsakh whose work brings together education in emergencies, displacement response, and community development.
He began his career as a teacher in rural Artsakh, where he founded Janeh, a youth center creating educational games, local learning experiences, and community-led projects for children and young people.
Following the displacement of Artsakh’s Armenian population, Ashot served as Head of Education in Emergencies at Teach For Armenia, working closely with educators, children, and families in communities across more than eight regions of Armenia. His practice is also informed by his participation in Teach For All’s global Education in Emergencies System Leaders Community.
Beyond schools, Ashot facilitates self-help groups with displaced adults, using adult learning and collective reflection to strengthen community relationships, resilience, and local action. As an advocate, he works to bring the experiences and perspectives of displaced communities into public conversations about education, identity, and belonging.
He is now developing a social venture that uses play and place-based learning to strengthen children’s agency, social-emotional skills, and connection to their communities. Ashot is pursuing an Ed.M. in Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Class of 2027.
